ALBUM REVIEW: Mo Pitney's 'Behind This Guitar'

Mo Pitney is a country music singer from Cherry Valley, IL. The rising star grew up surrounded by music as it was a family affair. He started to learn to play the drums aged just six and by age twelve he had moved onto the guitar.

And now he has has released his brand new album ‘Behind This Guitar’. Here we review the LP.

One listen to Mo Pitney’s new album ‘Behind This Guitar’ is enough to come the conclusion that he is country through and through. He has one of the most natural country twangs around and the lyrics in the songs are just perfect for the storytelling genre.

There is no pop inspiration on the LP which may disappoint the more modern country music fans. But for those who love the old country and western style, then it’s perfect listening. Pitney has a very similar tone to Garth Brooks which is a massive compliment.

The standout tracks on the album include ‘Come Do A Little Life’, ‘Everywhere’, and ‘Boy And A Girl Thing’. All of which have a slightly more current feel to them.

Overall ‘Behind This Guitar’ is a pure country album with little to no influence from any other genre. Which for some will be a major turn off and for others the major selling point. Personally I would rather there be a little bit of a folk/pop infusion but there’s no denying that Mo Pitney has an abundance of talent.
