Cabello admitted that she wasn't always a fan of eating vegetables. However, her ex, singer Shawn Mendes, helped her start eating healthy. "Shawn has influenced me to be healthier," she told BBC radio. "I was not healthy at all before. I never ate vegetables before. Just like, easy vegetables like cucumbers or cold carrots with cesar. Which I wouldn't say are hard vegetables." Mendes echoed her statements during an Instagram Q&A, "I just eat a lot of vegetables, so when she saw me eating a lot of vegetables, she ate a lot more."

Cabello is an advocate for mental health and awareness. And she isn't afraid to admit when she needs a break from her busy career. "If it's affecting my mental health in a negative way, I'll say no and do it another way," she told Latestly.com. "If you have any signs or symptoms of a mental illness, see your primary care provider or a mental health professional. Most mental illnesses don't improve on their own, and if untreated, a mental illness may get worse over time and cause serious problems," says the Mayo Clinic.

Cabello is a fan of practicing meditation and calmness. She and Mendes once released videos for Calm, called "Breathe Into It." Cabello says in her video, "By sharing my own journey, my hope is that we can continue to destigmatize conversations about mental health and asking for support." Cabello revealed that meditation has helped her get through some of the biggest struggles in her life. "Research has found that meditation may help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. When combined with conventional medicine, meditation may improve physical health. For example, some research suggests meditation can help manage symptoms of conditions such as insomnia, heart disease, pain, cancer and digestive problems," says the Mayo Clinic.

Cabello says that she rejects the traditional beauty standards of society. After going on a run, Cabello posted a TikTok talking about body positivity. "I was just running in the park minding my own business trying to be fit, trying to keep it healthy. And I am wearing a top that shows my belly, and I wasn't tucking it in. Because I was running and existing like a normal person that doesn't tuck it in all the time, and I was like, 'Damn.' But then I reminded myself being at war with your body is so last season." She concluded the video saying,  "I am grateful for this body that lets me do what I need to do. We are real women with curves and cellulite and stretchmarks and fat. And we gotta own that, baby." Cabello captioned the TikTok "I luv my body."

Cabello says that she doesn't let criticism on social media or from others affect her. In an interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Cabello described an incident that lead her to embrace this mindset. "I had my belly out, I didn't know anybody was taking pictures of me," she said. "I was like, you know what, this is normal. It's like my weight is gonna go up and down, also we have these crazy beauty standards from freakin' Instagram of people that are photoshopped or if they're not photoshopped, it's not every woman's body."

"I've definitely loved using make-up as a form of self-expression, especially over the past year," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I like to play around and change it up quite a lot when when I'm working on things, but if it's just my day off I like to just go natural. I'll put on a tinted sunscreen, mascara, either some red lipstick or gloss, maybe some blush, and call it a day."

Cabello's movie Cinderella is currently doing well, leading votes for the Oscar's new fan favorite category. It reminds us of when she posted during the shoot. "hello!!!! usually when I take these breaks from social media, it's cause I need some space or time away from it – I think it's healthy to know when you need time for yourself- that's been my biggest thing I've worked on this year so far is to listen to my intuition and what my mind and body need!!!! When I feel overwhelmed or overstimulated I'm like…. ok I need to give myself a little room to slow down. but I miss and love you guys!!!! I'm in London right now working on Cinderella and I'm having the time of my life TBH," she wrote once.
