Corrie is not an adopted child, but rather the only biological child of Larry and his ex-wife, Janet Condra; the two-time MVP’s other children, Connor Bird and Mariah, are adopted.
Bird was born on August 14, 1977, at the age of 45. She graduated from Northview High School in Brazil, Indiana, in 1995.
Corrie was an unusually tall teenager for her age.
Corrie had already surpassed the 5-foot-10-inch mark before graduating from high school. She was a standout athlete at Indiana State University. She also majored in elementary education there.
Bird married her mother, Janet Condra, shortly after he enrolled at Indiana State University. Corrie’s mother was a mail carrier who underwent disc surgery.
Mr. Bird and she were childhood pals. However, the couple divorced in 1976. Condra became pregnant and gave birth to Corrie during a brief (and failed) reconciliation.
Bird’s solicitors, on the other hand, requested a paternity test, and by the time the test results confirmed Corrie was Larry’s child, she was already a toddler. She’d seen little of her father.
Larry, on the other hand, was dating Dinah and had been refusing to be a part of his daughter’s life for years. The ex-power forward later stated that he still regrets his decision to be away from his daughter. Dinah had been urging him for years to contact Corrie and try to build a relationship with her.
Janet married Mike Deakins after her divorce from the former NBA player. Corrie remained close to her mother, Janet, and stepfather, Deakins, after high school.
In February 1993, John Gearan of the Worcester Telegram featured a piece mentioning Corrie, who was 15 at the time.
Gearan reported Corrie’s letter to her father, in which she asked him if she might attend his retirement ceremony. According to the writings, Corrie never heard from him. She admitted that she hadn’t had much touch with her father.
Bird used to visit Corrie once a summer, according to her mother, but he didn’t in 1992 because to his Olympic competition. Corrie came on the Oprah Winfrey Show in the late 1990s and discussed her non-existent relationship with her father.
During the event, Oprah inquired why she couldn’t move on after living without her father for 20 years. Corrie responded to the host’s query by saying that while she had moved on in some respects, she still hoped he could be a part of her life.
Janet, on the other hand, stated that she made excuses for her father’s refusal to visit Corrie when she was a child. Corrie mentioned in another interview how she used to write him letters and her mother would give him school pictures and report cards.
She and her mother, Janet, promised to send them certified mail to ensure he received them, but he didn’t answer.
Larry did refer to Corrie as his daughter as she grew older. In his memoirs, the Pacers’ coach reveals, citing his alienation from his daughter, Corrie, that he couldn’t have honestly said he had that much involvement in her life because of his disagreements with Janet [Corrie’s mother].
Larry also describes how he used to think about Corrie all the time, but realized he couldn’t do much about it; he couldn’t go back in time and relive the first five or six years of her existence.
In his memoir, the six-foot-nine-inch-tall Corrie is described as a fine and attractive young lady, and Janet is praised for raising her in the finest way imaginable.
He also mentions Corrie’s former athleticism, saying that she was good at everything she tried and that he was very proud of her.
Larry admits to having loved her and adds that he will be there for Corrie at any time.
Corrie once described what it was like to have a reunion with her father as an adult. Her father had recently accepted a coaching position with the Indiana Pacers, relocating closer to where she was.
Janet’s daughter went to see the Pacers play one day and went down to talk to Dinah (Larry Bird’s second wife) and meet their kids, Connor and Mariah, during the game.
Corrie went on to say that her father, who was coaching the Pacers at the time, looked over and saw her holding Mariah, but he just smiled awkwardly. She did not, however, get the opportunity to speak with him at the time.
Later that season, Dinah sent Corrie two Pacers game tickets, which she accepted, and when she went to the game, she finally got to speak briefly with her father after the game.
“I was overjoyed to attend the game. Dad appeared to be interested in what I had to say. He hugged me as he guided me to my car. “I’m hoping to see more of him now.”
said the native of Indiana.
Despite their turbulent beginnings, Corrie currently has a positive relationship with her father. Even now, the father-daughter duo is rarely seen together.
Corrie Bird is not her parents’ only child. Her mother’s relationship resulted in a half-sister named Mandy. Mandy is a singer who has already performed at prestigious venues such as the Lincoln Centre and others.
Bird, on the other hand, has two half-siblings from his father’s relationship, Conner and Mariah.
Trent Theopolis Batson is Corrie Bird’s husband. According to insiders, Corrie and her husband began dating in the mid-2000s. On May 17, 2008, the two exchanged marriage vows. Bird’s father also attended their wedding ceremony.
The couple held their wedding ceremony at the White Chapel and their reception at the Rose Hulman dining hall. Corrise chose a white sleeveless gown for her wedding gown, while her husband wore a suit.
Corrie and her husband Trend have been married for almost a decade and are still going strong in 2023.
Yes, Corrie and her husband have two children. Violet Marie, the couple’s first child, was born on June 18, 2012. On April 20, 2017, their second child, a son named Sebastien Grey, was born.
Although Bird had never been married before Trent, this is her husband Batson’s second marriage. From his first marriage, he has two children named Samantha and Christian.
Trent Batson, her husband, is from Indiana and works as a security professional. Trent works as a public safety officer at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Corrie, an Indiana State University graduate, is currently a healthcare manager. She is now a registration supervisor at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, Indiana.
Bird has previously held a variety of positions. She worked as a practice manager at Union Associate Physicians Clinics and as a business office manager at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
While her three-time NBA champion father is certainly a millionaire with a net worth of more than $75 million, Corrie’s net worth is a much more difficult question to answer.
Unlike Larry, the mother of two is little known in the media, and it is unclear what she does for a living. In any event, it appears less plausible that Corrie is clearly wealthy; highly unlikely in the league of multimillionaires.
