MMA star reveals extraordinary amount of money hes spent on tickets for UFC 295 - even with a fig

UFC star Jared Gordon has spent almost £18,000 on tickets for his next fight.

The last man to share the Octagon with British MMA star Paddy Pimblett is set to feature at UFC 295 in New York on November 11.

Gordon is set to fight lightweight contender Mark Madsen on the eagerly anticipated event headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.

On Monday, the 35-year-old shared an image of his receipt after buying 17 tickets at a special discounted price given to fighters competing on the most anticipated MMA card of the year.

Gordon’s bill came to a whopping $21, 869 – which is roughly £17,953 – and he seemed happy that his family would get to see him compete despite forking out a small fortune.

He tweeted: “These are discounted tickets I got through UFC for my fight at MSG for some family and friends.

“UFC has some loyal fans to be selling out an arena of close to 20,000 some odd seats at prices higher than these, I love you all!”

Gordon’s message to the fans seemed to get lost as many of them became fixated on the sheer amount of money a UFC fighter was forced to spend on tickets to a card they are competing on.

However, the MMA veteran wanted to make it clear that he is grateful to Dana White’s promotion for giving him four free tickets and a discount code.

Gordon added: “UFC always gives every fighter 4 free tickets when they make weight. I know I'll get those 4 tickets, I was just trying to thank the Fans for supporting us.

“The UFC has created the biggest card yet and I’m on it. So I’m grateful for the UFC and the fans. How is that post headlines?”

Gordon may not have noticed, but fans were already upset at the price of UFC 295 tickets after one was recently sold for more than £90,000.

While these types of tickets get you the best seat in the house, fans will need to pay big money to sit in the worst seats as the cheapest tickets currently available are £693 [$864].

Some UFC fans are feeling priced out of the event, and Gordon’s post, no matter how well-meaning, has added fuel to the fire.
