A person wandering the Long Island Rail Road tracks east of Bridgehampton was struck by an oncoming train Thursday morning, officials said.
The 11:18 a.m. out of Montauk struck the person shortly before noon, and had not resumed its journey as of 12:41 p.m., the MTA said.
“The LIRR is reporting delays on the Montauk Branch after a person was struck by a westbound train at 11:59 a.m. at the Sag Harbor Turnpike railroad crossing in Bridgehampton,” authority rep Kayla Shults said.
The unnamed victim was transported alive to nearby Stony Brook Hospital, Shults said.
More information was not immediately available. MTA Police are investigating why the person was on the tracks, Shults said.
The LIRR sent shuttle buses to bring stranded riders to their destinations, MTA said.
