Rob McElhenney Wiki Biography

Robert Dale McElhenney was born on 14 April, 1977, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. Rob came into prominence in 2005 by portraying the character Mac in the popular TV series “It`s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” . There are no doubts that this show has been one of the main sources of Rob McElhenney’s net worth, as his income was considerably boosted because Rob also took a role as an ongoing creator and a producer of this show.

So just how rich is Rob McElhenney? Sources have recently estimated that Rob has a net worth of $18 million, most of his wealth having been earned from his acting career, plus from his writing, directing and producing efforts.

Rob McElhenney Net Worth $18 Million

Rob McElhenney was raised by two gay mothers in New Jersey, which has obviously had no negative effect on Rob, in fact the opposite, as his formative years were happy and he’s carried this demeanour on into his acting career.  Rob made his film debut in 1997  in “The Devil`s Own”, produced by Alan J. Pakula, and the same year his first TV performance was in an episode of the series “Law and Order”.

Rob McElhenney’s net worth was then increased somewhat with small roles in the films “A Civil Action”, “Thirteen Conversations About One Thing”, and “Wonder Boys”, and more substantive roles in such movie productions as “Latter Days” and “The Tollbooth”.

As for other TV appearances, Rob McElhenney then performed in “ER” and “Lost”, a series even popular until today, then further in an episode in the 3rd season of the latter named “Not in Portland” .

However, by  2004 for Rob McElhenney it was not enough to take some minor roles in movies, and he was also working as a waiter to make ends meet, but fortuitously it was during that financially difficult time  that Rob was offered a part in “It`s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. This series keeps Rob fully occupied to the present day, as 50 weeks of the year are needed for writing, acting, directing and producing this show, all of which he is involved in. The series performances boosted Rob’s net worth even more, as interestingly Rob was offered a part in “Lost” because he accidentally met its producer and creator Damon Lindelof, who was a big fan of “It`s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”.

Subsequently, Rob McElhenney has also starred in such movie projects as “Campfire Stories”, “Long Story Short”, and “Living Loaded”. As regards his latest project, Rob has been appearing in “The Mindy Project” during 2014, so Rob has certainly been a late bloomer in the industry, as he is obviously in much demand as an actor these days.

As for his personal life, Rob McElhenney married Kaitlin Olson on 27 September, 2008 in California. Kaitlin also starred in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. The couple have welcomed two children: Axel Lee McElhenney born in 2010 and Leo Grey McElhenney born in 2012. Together the couple have purchased a Skinner`s Bar in Philadephia, which should add more income to Rob McElhenney’s current net worth.

#Trademark
1Humour from very dark characters and situations.
2Vain, immoral characters lacking in self-awareness.
3Often includes references to retro action films or music, either through story or dialogue.
4Recurring joke of Character's basing assumptions on Film/Televison cliches and being proven wrong.
#Quote
1It just so happens that people aren't doing comedy about abortion or cannibalism or waterboarding. And that to me doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't aspects of those subjects that are funny, it just means that people are too uptight.
2If anything, when you're in your late 20s, early 30s, and then mid-30s, you're getting less attractive.
3I feel like it's a dangerous and dark world if 'Sunny' becomes mainstream comedy. If you were to turn on CBS at 8 o'clock on Thursday and see an episode of 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia,' I don't know if I want to live in that world.
4Regardless of your metabolism, if you stop consuming so many calories, you will lose weight.
5Dramas need to have a certain aesthetic that comedy just doesn't really seem to need to have.
#Fact
1Although his character in ''It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia'' is very homophobic, Rob was raised by a lesbian couple who have a Domestic partnership.
2Worked as a waiter before his acting career took off and even kept it during the first season of ''It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (2005)''.
3Rob and his wife, Kaitlin Olson, had their second son, Leo Grey McElhenney, on April 5, 2012.
4He is the only cast member of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" who is from Philadelphia.
5Former roommate of Christopher Backus.
6Rob and Kaitlin Olson are expecting their second child [October 27, 2011].
7He is of Irish, German, English, and Scottish descent.
8In June 2011, the New York Daily News reported that Rob McElhenney had gained 50 pounds in the previous 6 months specifically so that he and the other writers for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005) would be able to start making "fat jokes" about his character, Mac--particularly ones capitalizing on the pun, "Big Mac". A gain (or loss) of 50 pounds in 6 months represents a very rapid and potentially unhealthy rate of weight change.
9Rob and his wife, Kaitlin Olson, had their first child, a son named Axel Lee McElhenney, on September 1, 2010.
10Shares a birthday with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
11Engaged to Kaitlin Olson as of December 2007.
12Went to high school with musician Donald McCloskey.
