Henry Cejudo – Early Career

Wrestling was where Henry Cejudo began his career in combat sports while still in high school. During his junior and senior years, he won the Colorado State Championships in addition to the freshman and sophomore championships in Arizona.

Cejudo concentrated on his international wrestling career after finishing high school and continued wrestling in college. In 2006 and 2007, Cejudo won the US National Championships. He later won the Pan American Championships from 2006 to 2008, won a bronze medal at the Wrestling World Cup, and took home a gold medal in the 55kg Freestyle Wrestling division at the Beijing Olympics.

In 2013, at WFF-Pascua Yaqui Fighter 4, Cejudo made his professional MMA debut against Michael Poe after beginning his MMA training in 2010. He subsequently defeated Sean Barnett at Gladiator Challenge before competing against Anthony Sessions for the vacant WFF Bantamweight Championship at WFF 10. He won the fight through TKO (punches) in the opening round and went on to win his following three matches in the US regional circuit. In 2014, Cejudo joined the UFC after compiling a 6-0 record in professional mixed martial arts.
